The AOC is a close link between human know-how, a product and a specific area.

Benefit from a duly established renown.
 Apply for official approval.

The INAO's role :

The National Institute for the Controlled Appellations (INAO) guarantees the AOC label. It grants the AOC acknowledgement which consists of :

Well defined geographic boundaries in a given production area.
 Defined production and approval requirements.
 A duly established renown.
 Approved criteria

Also, it ensures : the follow - up, the supervision of the production requirements and it fights against counterfeits.
How is an A.O.C. recognized ?
Products that benefit from an AOC are recognized by the written mention " Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée " or AOC found on their label.

A visual identification design representing the term " AOC " will be created. It will be affixed on all agricultural and agro-food AOC products, exept on wines.
