Some exeptions are allowed and are strictly controlled by national technical regulations. They concern the following :
Raw products that cannot be found in mountain zones for natural reasons (spices, citrus fruits...)
Cereals and oleaginous products for animal feed that are not produced in sufficient quantity in a mountain zone.
The animal's slaughtering location and the processing of products, when technical conditions cannot be met.

How is a " Mountain Product " recognized ?

It is recognized through the logo " Produit Alimentaire de Montagne " (Mountain Food Product) which is affixed on the product label.
